Supper Club Tasting Dinner

The Lodge at Malibou lake, MAY 2025

Every month, we open the doors of The Lodge at Malibou Lake to a curated group of wedding professionals, couples, and food lovers for an intimate tasting dinner that showcases what this venue — and this community of vendors — is truly capable of. The concept is simple: bring the best local talent under one roof, set a beautiful table, and let the food, the florals, and the company do the rest.

Wedding Planner Emily Kay gathered the team for this exceptional evening. Some evenings just have a feeling to them from the very first step through the door — the kind that lingers long after the last glass is cleared, when the candles have burned low and the laughter hasn't stopped. May's gathering was a perfect example.

Cocktails on the Front Porch

Each Supper Club begins outdoors on the covered Front Porch, where guests check-in, grab a cocktail and mingle over passed appetizers as the sun dips behind the mountains. The energy is warm and immediate — the kind that happens naturally when creative people who love their work find themselves in the same room. For this event, photographer Julie Shuford expertly captured the details.

A Table Worth Lingering Over

When guests move into the Ballroom, the room stops them in their tracks. For May's dinner, floral designer Michele Lane of Something's Blooming creates something extraordinary — a full-room tablescape in the colors of a California spring garden: coral and peach garden roses, green hydrangeas, lavender lisianthus, soft pink ranunculus, and pops of blue delphinium, all nestled into sage green gauze runners that pool softly across the dark farm tables.

Tall glass candleholders in gold and clear ribbed glass hold taper candles in blush, peach, and lavender — lit one by one as the room fills with guests and conversation. The prints and menus, designed by Peacock Print Co., are tucked into each place setting, and every detail feels considered, personal, and alive.

The Food

The heart of every Supper Club is the meal, and Executive Chef Tiffany Sewell brings everything to the table — literally. Working in the spirit of Chef Cordelia’s farm-to-table philosophy, each menu is built around seasonal California ingredients, served family-style so that dinner feels less like a gathering of family and friends.

The first courses arrive in generous bowls passed down the length of the table: crisp green salads crowned with edible nasturtiums in brilliant orange and yellow, dressed simply enough to let the produce speak. Every detail on every plate is intentional.

Then come the mains — bold, layered, and deeply satisfying. One platter arrives draped in a vibrant red sauce, topped with crushed peanuts and a tangle of fresh microgreens — a dish that hits every note at once: smoky, bright, textured, and alive. Alongside it, a colorful bowl of seasonal veggies and ricotta ravioli with pea shoots and lemon zest round out the spread.

The second main course is a showstopper in green: golden-charred chicken blanketed in a vivid herb sauce — chimichurri-bright and deeply aromatic — finished with edible flowers and microgreens. Next to it, a bowl of roasted rainbow carrots and our signature smoky mashed potatoes.

The Wedding Cake

No detail captures the spirit of this dinner quite like the centerpiece cake by Nika Yazdani of Sugar Studio. A blush-pink rectangular cake with a sculptural rippled wave texture runs the length of the table, nestled into the sage green runner and decorated with fresh coral garden roses, peach blooms, green hydrangeas, and scattered petals in lavender and white. It is, in every sense, edible art — and it sits at the table as a centerpiece long before anyone thinks of cutting into it.

The People Who Make It Happen

A dinner like this doesn't come together without a team, and each month is something special. Our vendors aren't just contributors — they are collaborators, each bringing their own vision and craft to create an evening that is greater than the sum of its parts.

To every vendor, every guest, and every person who helps bring each evening to life — thank you. The Supper Club exists because of exactly this kind of generosity and creative spirit, and it only gets better every month.

Want to join us at the next Supper Club? Our tasting dinners are held monthly at The Lodge at Malibou Lake. Follow along for upcoming dates, or reach out to learn more about attending or getting involved as a vendor.
